PROBUS is an international organisation
which has grown from the first club formed in the mid
1960s by the Caterham Rotary Club to provide social
meeting facilities for retired professional and business
men. Later, ladys clubs were also formed one of
which we have in Fakenham.
The Fakenham mens club was formed in the 1980s;
members meet on the second Monday of every month, at
the increasingly popular venue provided by the Masonic
Hall in Hayes Lane, Fakenham. Membership includes both
retired and semi-retired men who have had careers in
a wide range of industries and professions.
Between 10:30 and 11:00 members assemble for coffee
and a chat. About 11:00 a speaker gives a 45 minute
talk, often illustrated with a variety of visual aids,
the topics of which range widely.
Following the talk, members retire to the bar to enjoy
a drink with friends and those stopping to lunch go
on to sit down for a two-course meal which is cooked
on the premises. Generally the meeting breaks up about
1:30 to 2:00PM.
Membership and lunch costs
Membership subscriptions are currently set at £18.00
per year and lunch costs £11.00 per meal.
So that potential members can taste the
benefits of membership the club offers a one-off Try
before you buy visit. For just £5.00, a
visitor can enjoy the facilities of the club including
coffee, talk, bar facilities and two-course lunch.
If you would like to take advantage of this offer,
just phone one of the people below to make arrangements.
