BROADBAND UPDATE - Friday, February 03, 2006

For broadband users who are looking forward to increased connection speeds in the near future, some good news is at hand.  BT are planning to upgrade the Fakenham exchange to accept higher speed 'Max' connections by the end of March 2006, according to 'estimate' info just released.  This will mean up to 8Mb broadband instead of the current maximum speed of 2Mb.

Note that only 'Max' ADSL accounts will enjoy these speeds and only those nearest the exchange with a good enough line quality will see any great benefit. If you'd like to get details of other local exchange upgrades, please email the webmaster.

Six county stations are in the spotlight, including ours and Sandringham's. The Council's effort to cut funding to the Fire Service could mean a reduction of up to 32 staff and could even end up costing lives, according to a Fire Brigade's Union spokesperson.
