| CLOCKS FORWARD - Friday, April 01, 2005 Just a reminder to people that now Fakenham is officially in the Euro Regeneration zone, we're now +1 hour ahead of most towns in the East Anglia region. Make sure all your contacts outside the area know about this, as it could cause considerable confusion. You'd think the powers that be would have organised it for last week, as we already had to put clocks forward an hour at that time, but no. Typical bureaucracy! (full story) |
| WEST RAYNHAM PLANS - Friday, March 11, 2005 Council & MOD planners are discussing the proposed use for the former RAF site at West Raynham. Current thinking seems to be towards developing it for agricultural use or possibly a windfarm (as the Guestwick proposals had previously been turned down) rather than for housing. Technical difficulties building housing on the site, as well as inadequate infrastructure in the area were reasons given for the shift in emphasis. The proposals are due to be discussed by the working party next week and will subsequently be examined by North Norfolk Council. (full story) |
| TESCO UPDATE - Saturday, January 08, 2005 Tesco representatives met with planning councillors yesterday and agreed to the supermarket's request for an increase in floorspace for non-food items. This area of the proposed store (for clothes etc) goes up from 15 to 20%. The opening of the store therefore comes a step closer. Interestingly, Tesco have withdrawn their plans for a café at the site and were 'disappointed' to have done so. Councillors now need assurance that the shop will not operate 24/7, so talks continue.
