More movement on the retail front in town...

Pearce Electrical will be moving from its edge-of town premises in Holt Road into a higher-visibility site in Oak Street, taking the place of the recently closed flower shop next to Tesco.

Halfords, the Nationwide discount bikes and car accessories company, are rumoured to be opening premises on the retail park in Holt Road, next to Lidl.

Finally, an established local retailer is expected to be taking over the Norwich Street premises which had been vacated by Fakenham Learning Centre, in the near future.

POST OFFICE CLOSURES - Wednesday, May 28, 2008

If you're campaigning against recent PO closure proposals, Fakenham Town Council have suggested that writing to the Post Office rather than just signing anti-closure petitions, will carry more weight. If you'd like to express your views on the proposed closures in writing, post them (free of charge) direct to: Laura Tarling, Network Development Manager, c/o National Consultation Team, Post Office Ltd, Freepost Consultation Team.

NB. The official period of consultation ends on Monday, June 2.

GALLERY CHARITY EVENT - Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Artists Keith and Debbie Osborn are staging a Midsummer Event to mark the official opening of their Hillside Gallery & Studios – and to support Norfolk based charity Break.  Visitors can pop in any time over the weekend of June 21 and 22 between 10am and 6pm to view work and enjoy refreshments. 

A percentage of takings will go to Break, the Sheringham-based charity that helps children, adults and families in need. There will also be a draw to win prizes worth a total of £50 from Hillside Gallery – proceeds to Break. The Gallery and Studios can be found in Swaffham Road, Toftrees, Fakenham.

NORFOLK DEAF ASSOCIATION - Wednesday, May 14, 2008

A mobile clinic supporting deaf people across the region has just been launched by the NDA. It will be visiting 20 towns each month, including Fakenham, as well as attending events through the summer. Visitors to the mobile clinic can have their hearing aids checked and fixed, plus obtain advice on hearing loss, sign language and lip reading.

POST OFFICE CLOSURES - Wednesday, March 26, 2008

The Post Office has announced that 47 of its Norfolk branches are facing possible closure, with 6 others facing big changes to their operation. The branch at Wells Road, Fakenham is on the list, with others at Barney, Tittleshall and Great Walsingham barns also under threat.

A consultation process will now take place, with a deadline of the beginning of June for people to make their views known. More info available from HERE
